Hi guys! There is a great project going on kickstarter right now that could use an extra bump in its last hours. There are beautiful rewards on offer for backing this project, plus the satisfaction of helping produce an awesome book. I am copying the text below directly from the kickstarter page of the Vista Sans Wood Type Project. Please consider giving them a boost! They are almost there. Again, that link is Vista Sans Wood Type Project. Time is running out!
copied from Tricia and Ashley’s kickstarter page:
In 2012, Tricia Treacy and Ashley John Pigford created letterpress wood type from the typeface Vista Sans™ (designed by Xavier Dupré for Emigre) with a home-made CNC router.
We sent 5 wood type letters (spelling “touch”) with paper, to twenty letterpress artists and studios around the world to see what they would do with it.
What we got back is AMAZING and we now want to make a book to show their innovative processes and final prints, and share their own words about it.
Artists involved in the project: Megan Adie, (Copenhagen), Katie Baldwin, (NY), Baltimore Print Studios / Kyle Van Horn & Kim Bentley, (Baltimore, MD), Inge Bruggeman, (Portland, OR), Macy Chadwick, (Oakland, CA), Angela Driscoll & Yuka Petz, (New Orleans, LA), Firecracker Press, (St. Louis, MO), Rose Gridneff & Alex Cooper, (London, UK), Rick Griffith, (Denver, CO), Bethany Heck, (South Carolina), Dafi Kühne, (Switzerland), Peter Kruty & Sayre Gaydos, (Brooklyn, NY), Josephine McCormick, (Belfast, Northern Ireland), Robin McDowell, (New Hampshire), April Sheridan & Daniel Mellis, (Chicago, IL), Nick Sherman, (Brooklyn, NY), David Shields, (Richmond, VA), Studio on Fire / Ben Levitz & Sam Michaels, (Minneapolis, MN), Tricia Treacy & Ashley John Pigford, (Philadelphia, PA), David Wolske, (Salt Lake City, UT), Karen Zimmermann, (Tuscon, AZ).
(ok, it’s me again now)
To see the prints that the artists produced using this type, visit the kickstarter page for the (here is that link again) Vista Sans Wood Type Project. I pledged 50 buckaroos for a David Wolske print, but if the project doesn’t get funded all the way, I won’t get it. Don’t let this terrible thing happen.
Thanks guys. Back to me later in the week.
UPDATE: They made it!!! I get my David Wolske print, a beautiful book will be made, everybody wins! Hurrah!
oh, shoot! i missed this 😦 had my eye on it the first time around, but these rewards are SO much more compelling. i am glad they get to make their book, though!
