Mad book arts chaos is in full gear at the Wells Book Arts Summer Institute. Guess how many books we each churned out before lunch today, the first day of our week-long book explosion? FOUR. that’s how many. And on top of that, some seriously interesting book sketches. Like this one:
And we even had some time to get on the press.
Tomorow we’ll be getting into some linoleum carving and pressure printing. We’ll also be starting to plan our small editions of artists’ books. Meanwhile we are hearing tales from our institute colleagues as they delve into calligraphy, digital (what?) book design, and pop up book structures.
Summertime is the best. I love teaching workshops like this. Stay tuned to find out what happens tomorrow. Over and out.
I wish I could take one of your courses.
Ditto to Ellen Huntington Slade’s comment. We needed you at UA in 1974!!!
